  1. Look, OK. I know there's virtually no support here so I've been trying to help out when I can but I am growing weary of some issues.

    1. Please Please read all of the entries on the main page first. 50% of these questions can be answered by the FAQ and the entries about how to get your Archives page to work and such.

    2. Make sure your question is relevant to the theme. This is not the place to learn basic html and css. For that visit: www.w3schools.com and alistapart.com for their many tutorials and teach yourself the basics. I mean, people are asking how to delete stuff.. find the code in your .php files and press delete! If you don't know enough html to be able to simple get rid of an element you don't want, you have no business modifying your theme in the first place and you'll probably just end up breaking it.

    3. Make sure your issue isn't related to wordpress itself. If it is, you should be in the wordpress codex forums, not here.

    4. Lastly, look around on these forums, people keep reasking questions I've already answered.

    5. Download and install Firebug for Firefox. This will make your modding much easier as you can easily tell what code is creating what page elements without having to ask people here.

    6. If you still have a question after doing all of this, then post it!

I am posting this here so people who go to this section of the forum will see it. I would appreciate it being bumped by folks so it stays current.

    Thanks!

  3. I think one of the great things about this forum is that it's a way for other Cutliners to run into each other and help one another out.

At this point, it isn't about a Cutline user asking a question specifically about Cutline. It's about a Cutline user asking a questions. Period. And we're all here to try and help.

I'm sorry you're getting irritated by all the "little petty" questions, but I see no harm in a fellow Cutliner asking random HTML or WP questions here. Everyone appreciates your efforts, that is for sure. But no one is placing complete responsibility on you to answer all of these questions.

  4. I still maintain that this simply isn't the best resource to go to for basic CSS and HTML questions when entire sites are devoted to breaking these issues down and explaining them in much more succinct ways than we ever could here, replete with hands on examples and tutorials. (see above links).

I didn't know CSS at all less than a year ago, and I've taught myself everything I know from those two websites I listed. I mean, we don't need to reinvent the wheel as they say, so if someone else on the web does it better than we can here, why clutter up the forum?

A lot of people are asking questions here when there is a help forum at Wordpress.org that gets attention by the people who program Wordpress. Again, those programmers can answer Wordpress-related questions better than we ever could.

Basically, I don't mind answering questions about what CSS affects what elements of the Cutline theme as we can save each other some digging. But I also maintain that if you can't even follow the basic syntax of CSS or HTML you should start someplace else and learn that before you start tinkering around and just end up breaking your theme.

Cutline's great because it looks awesome as it comes!

Also, everyone asks about their Archive and About pages over and over again when there's a how to post on the main page.

But yes, nothing wrong with cutliners helping other cutliners, that's why I'm doing this. I didn't post this to be snide but to be helpful. People will learn a lot more if they start with the resources I listed instead of just yelling for help right off the bat.

  5. I would like to add, that due to the fact that whoever moderates the cutline page doesn't give a shit less about maintaining it, or helping theme users, or really anything that actual involves the theme they are in charge of, the next page links don't work in this forum.

Therefore, you are forgiven for not being able to see if someone has already answered your questions.

  8. I tried pasting the link for the next page http://cutline.tubetorial.com/forums/forum/cutline-theme-support-forums/page/2 into the browser but it brought me back to the same list even though the URL now shows that it is page 2. Perhaps the total number of entries for the first page hasn't been reached yet (or isn't set) and there are no next pages yet?
