Everything was going along just fine. I was changing over a site and cut/pasting posts.

Last thing I did was go to:
    Options | Reading
    Front Page Displays
    Static Page
And I might have selected a page that doesn't exist.

Is there anyway to fix my mess without wiping out all my cut/pasting and starting over? Would love to know what I did so it doesn't happen again.

I would send the link but I am working on it locally using xampp. I will put links to the relevant files and very grateful for any assistance.

What it looks like now: http://www.stainnc.org/wordpress/homepage.jpg
    http://www.stainnc.org/wordpress/header.txt
    http://www.stainnc.org/wordpress/index.txt
    http://www.stainnc.org/wordpress/navigation.txt

    Thank you,

    Barry Friedman

Just started to rebuild and I did it again.

    Options | General
    WordPress address (URL):
I changed this to a static page (http://localhost/wordpress/?page_id=6) and it all went to heck.

After hitting "Update Options" it loads the page and I can tell it's all over.

Must be doing something to one file. OK, start over again. I know what NOT to do this time.

Any ideas on how to fix this without rebuilding?

    Thanks.

  3. Looks like it's missing the style sheet.

  4. First off... you can always just undo picking a static page as your homepage and it should go back to defaulting to your index.php file, which unless you messed with it, should be fine.

Secondly, once stuff is posted, unless you're data base is corrupt, you can reinstall cutline or even wordpress, but you'll never have to repost your posts.. that's the whole beauty of all of this database stuff. It's stored in your database not in your cutline or wordpress folders.

SO either way, you shouldn't have to "start over" posting. You may have to redo mods you made to cutline, but that's really about it.

But yeah, picking a page that doesn't exist for your home page is never a good thing.

But if it's not linking up to a style sheet, then just make sure the page you want as your front page is calling the header.php file, and that the header.php file it's calling is linking to the proper style sheet. That your style sheet isn't in the wrong folder, or the page you created isn't in a different folder than all your other cutline stuff.

Thank you so much for this help... I had to call in the big guns (well, $50 worth anyway) and she got it set back up for me. Strange... I move more slowly now - and that's a good thing.
