Newbie to Widgetized Theme - Need Help!

    Hi,
    I am Rajagopalan from New Delhi. I have just upgraded my blog at http://www.theassociatereference.com to WordPress v2.2.3 and downloaded Cutline Three-Column Right theme.

    I am totally new to widgetized themes so, to start off, I am going to ask very basic questions.

    1. Adding codes to header and footer - Do we need to manually do these changes in the templates through theme editor

    2. In the sidebars, if I have to add banner ads, text ads, php, html codes, etc, is there any specific widget plugins that I need to install to get these widgets? Or, else how to get these widgets available?

    I would be really grateful if some one could guide me with these basic questions.

    I still just hard code because widgets never seem to do what I want, so there's always that option. There probably are some plug-ins, but hell, I just edit my sidebar.php files to include ads or whatever else I want there...
