Where do I insert the favicon code:

so I can show colorful favicon on my blog top?

Put it in the Header, anywhere before the </head> tag.

Edited to add: to be safe, put it under the </title> tag ... you want the DOCTYPE declaration at the very top of the header, and I'm not sure about the "content-type" tag that comes next.

Are you talking about the header.php, yes?
I have put as directed and the image doesn't show up.
I have put the image in my images folder. What else can

I have also followed these instructions. I also went to the favicon validator at http://www.html-kit.com/favicon/validator/ and it confirmed everything is in order. BUT, the favicon still isn't showing up in my browser. hmmmm....

I'm not sure why this made it work but:
Went to http://www.chami.com/html-kit/services/favicon/ and it generated a zip file from a pic I wanted favicon'ed. It produced two pics: one stationary and one animated.
The code provided was this:
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" >
<link rel="icon" href="animated_favicon1.gif" type="image/gif" >Then I uploaded the two .ico files into my /wp-content folder (NOT the cutline themes folder). If you aren't using WordPress, then I have no idea how your directory is set up.
I copy and pasted all of the above code directly after </title> in the header.php
Like I said before, I don't know why it worked with the animated file with it.... but it's running like a charm now.

Kana: Give it time. I just did what Jami suggested because I had the same issue. I noticed it took about 15 minutes to show up on my blog after I set everything up.

Ok.. I've tried everything stated above for several times.. but I still get the same message from favicon validator and the favicon doesn't show up on my website.. what did i do wrong?
http://www.pepperlonely.com was checked but could not find a valid favicon.
