I badly need more information on how to get these two pages working. I can't follow the code to change it in header.php or handle the other solutions. Can anyone enlarge on this problem please.

I've got almost the same problem - I can't see the Archive page, but I can see the About page. What could couse this problem?

For the Archive page you have to go to Admin->Presentation->Cutline Options and activate it.
For the About page or any other page you have to "create" the page first and then add the page to the Nav bar by following THESE instructions...

I'd like to know, what to do. I installed WP. Everything is working except archives. Page about created automatically, archives not. So I created it manually and of course, it doesn't have any content. I have probably use some PHP code and insert it into the post. But what should I insert?

I can't get my archive page to work either: http://www.bignannynews.com
Tried to activate it at: Admin->Presentation->Cutline Options but no luck.
Any ideas? Thanks.

I think, you should publish page called archives. Link in menu will work, but site will be empty or it will not show archive. Do anyone know, what to do?

I solved it. You have to set archives template during editing page in admin. Thanks for help, bye.

Alright, I've created an Archives page and it's linking to that page in the navigation. However, the format seems to be that of a post, not the structure I would expect. What's interesting is that I do not see the archive.php or archives.php template in the drop down menu for templates when creating/editing the archive page in the admin panel. Could that be my problem? If so, could you recommend a solution?
Thanks!

Ho hmmm. You can manually open up your wp_content folder, and find the themes folder to make sure you see an archive.php and an archives.php.
If not, download cutline again, and drag just those files into your cutline folder.

But archive.php actually affects how stuff is displayed once you bring up a specific archive entry, and not the page listing a directory to all the dates and whatnot.

Man, you are on a roll. Thanks for all the help today. It's very strange, but those files are in my folder. I'm going to try a couple of things and will post again if I find I need help or to share what I did. Thanks!

BTW _ I've tried a bunch of stuff now, and looking through the Codex, it looks like there's a problem related to AJAX. I don't really understand that, but even if I put a new template page - something simple - it doesn't show up as an option in that dropdown menu. Weird.

Got it to work. I use a mac and usually browse in FF. Switched to Safari and templates showed up. Weird.

I have a similar problem. Most of the time my Archives and About pages work ... but sometimes, and it is erratic, I get a 404 page instead. I implemented #1 from http://cutline.tubetorial.com/why-dont-my-archives-and-about-links-work/
Perhaps an issue with the htaccess file? Or did I mess things up with a custom 404 page?

Resolved by deleting and reinserting the page. Whew!

In my installation of WordPress (v.2.3.1) I notice that the URLs all include "index.php". The Cutline URL for the Archives page follows the format of:
http://www.madeupblogname.com/archives/
but on my test site the Archives URL is actually at:
http://www.madeupblogname.com/index.php/archives/It's late, I'm tired, and I've been trying to make the Archives and About pages work as repeatedly described on this site. However, that "index.php" seems to be absolutely required in the URL of every single page. From my point of view it just clutters up the URL. Is this something that can be changed? And is this the cause of some of the frustration many people are expressing?

This was the answer to my archives page problem!Posted 4 years ago # -
Hi Friends - I was having the same trouble with activating my Archives page as well - same story, followed ALL directions, trolled this website for help, and still nothing.
MY solution was that I didn't actually have a page in WordPress called "Archives" so: From Wordpress Admin -> Write -> Pages -> and then create a page called Archives, making sure to select archives as your template from the right side of the page.
Hope this helps. Changed my life for the better!

Hello All,
I feel like an idiot but I have published “about, archives, and sitemap” pages in addition to changing permalink structure and uploading .hta file. I also updated header file as indicated in tutorial but I still can’t get navigation links to work and receive this message, “You don’t have permission to access /blog/archives/ on this server,” even though access is 755. Appreciate any help!
