I set my blog to be in it is own directory at:

    http://www.DesignsByDayBreak.com/blog

I would like the main domain name... http://www.DesignsByDayBreak.com
to be an introduction page or perhaps a squeeze page. I have not thought this out completely.

How do I create a STATIC page at:
    http://www.DesignsByDaybreak.com

I want the page to *look like* my 3-column Cutline Blog and be Static
My 3-column Cutline Blog is here http://www.SayItWithEcards.com/blog

NOTE: Right now http://www.DesignsByDaybreak.com redirects to my card site. I did that because I took down a page that no longer applied and I wanted something there that was meaningful and current.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Roz -

You can set your first page to be static, no problem.

    Create the page.

Then go to dashboard > Options > Reading
Click so your first page is static and select it from the pull down.

You'll need to install WordPress so it is at the root level of your domain.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi June:

    Thanks for your response...

When I first installed WordPress I was agonizing where to install it - root directory or in the /blog/ directory as I knew/thought I wanted to have the front page Static.

Seems from what you say I should have installed in root instead of /blog/

WordPress has instructions on moving the blog. I read them the other day. For now I will wait, but I remember seeing them.

There is another way to do it...

In the scheme of things the way the web reads the pages *at least on my server* the index.html page *comes up first!* BEFORE index.php.

So if I created a page and called it index.html ... it should come up when someone visits http://www.DesignsByDaybreak.com/

For now I have that, but it is directing to my card site. I just need to redesigns the page for the new DesignsByDaybreak.com site.

I just wanted the page to look like the blog theme, in this case Cutline.

Thank again for taking the time to respond.

    Happy New Year.

  5. Yes, I'm pretty sure you are right. index.html will show before index.php on my servers too.

I was planning on having a different installation for Wordpress for each school - so made a entry page called http://parentpage.org - then it goes to the schools. But this year the communication chairs are not jumping on making changes to the websites - since I'm doing most of the updating I only have two active installations. It's easier for me to just make the changes that way.

I'm trying to figure out how to make my sandiego installation change appearance for posts when different categories are selected - then at least each school would look different to the audience looking at stuff.
