Hello, I recently installed the Cutline 1.4 (2-Column Right)theme. Very nice! I cannot figure how to add the user name for the original author who posts each new blog story. Is there an easy way to do this? Basically, I want the public to see which user posted the story. Thanks! Chris

I actually set out to do this a little bit ago. There are a couple of places you can add this functionality to - the main index.php page, as well as the individual post (single.php) page. It's pretty simple to do, once you know where to look. Open these files in the theme editor, and look for "by <?php the_author() ?>", it should already bee in there. You'll notice that this is commented out with <!-- --> tags. Remove those, and you should be good to go. You may want to through in a "·" before the author to make it a bit cleaner. I also decided that I wanted to have the actual time of day displayed as well. On the same line, just before where the author is displayed, change the call to "the_time()" to be "the_time('F jS, Y h:i a');" and see how you like that.
All together, you end up with:
<?php the_time('F jS, Y h:i a'); ?> · by <?php the_author() ?> ·Posted 3 years ago # -

The solution worked great. I had anticipated that this create a link to the author's user page. I suppose this would take a fair amount of coding to do? I don't code in PHP unfortunately. Thanks - Chris

Why can’ this be an inbuilt functionality in cut line? Something that is this basic should be inbuilt! I ain’t complaining, cut line 1.4 is awesome and all. The solution you suggested worked for me in Multivariate Testing. But I find it boring to do all this stuff manually. And this version isn’t compatible with word press 7 either, oh shoot. Only thing I loved about this version is the built in image classes, galleries and caption that it support.

I am waiting for a simpler fix myself... it's taking longer to update www.cabinetparts.com than I thought it would!
